"Accessibility means that as many different people as possible can access websites and mobile applications as easily as possible. Accessibility means considering the versatility and different abilities of people in the design and implementation of websites and mobile applications." (Definition from Regional state administrative agency)
In everyday work, accessibility easily becomes a feature of the physical environment. Accessibility is also usability of websites and online services for people with various impediments. When websites and web tools are properly designed and coded, people with disabilities can use them. Usability of websites and online services for people with various impediments improves accessibility for everybody in the digital world. The internet offers the possibility of unprecedented access to information and interaction for people with disabilities. The accessibility barriers to print, audio, and visual media can be easily overcome through web technologies. Making sites accessible also benefits other groups such as those using mobile devices, or those with slow network connections. Both accessibility and usability will improve equal possibilities to study, search information or participate in society's activities for everybody.
The accessible materials provided by the Centria Library are mainly audiobooks.
