If the thesis contains confidential information, you can enable a confidential area for the work.
DOCUMENT PUBLICITY Under the Constitution of Finland (1999) and the Act on the Openness of Government Activities (1999), a thesis becomes a public document as soon as the completed document is accepted by a public authority (the thesis advisor). For this reason, a thesis cannot contain confidential, secret or sensitive information. The Ministry of Education and Culture has issued guidelines on the matter for higher education institutions in its letter Opinnäytetöiden julkisuus (‘Publicity of theses’) 28.1.2004 Dnro 3/500/2004. According to the ministry’s guidelines, the confidential information can be included in an appendix, which is not evaluated and must be omitted from the final version. A reference to the omitted appendix must be made in the abstract so that the reader knows that such a document has existed during the thesis process.
All theses are public documents and the published versions may not contain confidential information. Wihi’s confidential area can be enabled if it has been agreed with the customer that confidential information is used in the interim versions of the work.
If other tasks are carried out as part of the thesis project, the student must prepare them and determine schedules for them.
The phases also contain tasks added by the student. Tasks in progress are automatically transferred to the next phases. |
The advisor can add activity notes to the thesis project. The activity notes can be viewed by the coordinators, advisors and evaluators but not by the students.
When the student is carrying out a task, such activity notes as Task created and Task started are automatically created as the work progresses.
