Contents and purpose of the guide
	- The aim of this guide is to support and guide the implementation of open RDI activities at Centria.
- The guide complements Centria's RDI guidelines.
- The guide covers the entire life cycle of an RDI project, from the project planning stage to the commercialization of results.
- The aim of open RDI activities is to ensure that the knowledge produced at Centria gains visibility and that expertise is communicated effectively. To achieve this goal, RDI methods, materials, outputs, and results must be made available as open as possible.

- You ensure the systematic storage of the materials collected in the project so that they can be found and utilized later.
- You communicate about the project in a diverse manner, favoring open publication channels while also considering the quality of the publication channel.
- You participate, engage others, and network.
- You gain visibility and merit for your work when others cite your publications and the data you share.
Development of Open RDI Activities in Universities of Applied Sciences
	- The project "Open RDI Activities, Learning & Innovation Ecosystem in Universities of Applied Sciences," coordinated by SeAMK, develops a culture of openness and open practices in the research, development, and innovation activities (RDI) of universities of applied sciences, in learning integrated into RDI activities, and in cooperation with working life.
- The open operational culture of universities of applied sciences is described by the concept of open RDI activities, while in universities and other research institutions, the concept of open science and research is used.
Open Science and Research as a National and European Goal
	- Open science and research have been developed according to the roadmap prepared by the Ministry of Education and Culture (OKM) during the years 2014 - 2017. In 2018, the coordination responsibility for open science and research was transferred to the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies (TSV). (see Avointiede.fi)
- The goal is for Finland to be one of the world's leading countries in the openness of science and research.
- The Declaration for Open Science and Research 2020-2025, prepared by the Finnish scientific community, sets a common direction for the development of openness.
- Open science is also a key goal of the EU's innovation policy.
- The "Plan S," published by the European Commission and Science Europe, has set the goal that from 2020 onwards, research publications produced with public national and European research funding must be published in reliable open access scientific journals or platforms.
