Searching for materials on the open network

With the demands for openness in science, the number of open publications online has increased. However, a large proportion of research articles are still  in databases that require a fee. The library has acquired access rights to several databases, but for cost reasons, the database selection is not comprehensive.

Research articles can be searched for in many different ways. The following link takes you to an article that describes the various alternative ways of obtaining articles. http://urn.fi/URN:NBN:fi:amk-201903233677.

Further down this page, you will also find links to various services containing open network materials. Typical search locations for open materials include the publication archives of universities and research institutes, which contain both theses and staff publications. Staff publications also include so-called parallel publications, i.e., publications that have been published in a scientific journal, for example, and also stored in an open publication archive with the publisher's permission.
