Assessment of storage needs

In addition to Centria's guidelines, the following factors affect the storage requirements and methods for data collected in projects, as well as the opening up of data

  • funding guidelines
  • agreements made with partners
  • ethical and legal factors
  • the requirements of the publisher of the research article (or other publication) regarding the availability and openness of the material on which the publication is based

In addition to the above, data storage and disclosure can be assessed using the following criteria:

Quality of material: accuracy, authenticity, authenticity,
internal consistency, comprehensiveness, timeliness, correctness, and usability

Need for longitudinal research

Potential users Suitability for new uses
Scientific value of the material Is collecting data easy to repeat, or is it difficult or even impossible?
Historical value of the material Does collecting similar material incur significant costs?
Novelty value  
Commercial potential  Is it possible to perform new analyses on the material?
Uniqueness  

 


Data sets can be made available to others by storing them in national or international data archives. Both general and discipline-specific data archives are available. When selecting an archive, it is advisable to pay attention to factors such as the reputation and reliability of the archive administrator, security, storage time and other storage conditions, and usage statistics.
